Marco van Basten said "Sieg Heil" This is a salute which translates to "hail victory" to Wormuth at the end of the interview. This salute has been used by numerous famous Nazis and was often used at Nazi rallies. Marco van Basten has claimed that the salute was a joke that was not well-intentioned However, Fox and EA have all responded to the Nazi salute.

In response to the incident Fox has reprimanded van Basten for a week to investigate the incident further. In between, van Basten's wages can be donated to Netherlands Institute of War Documentation. FC 24 is not without controversy but this is an unusual circumstance for the sport to tackle. Fortunately, similar to Fox, EA has responded promptly.

FIFA is responding to this situation by halting "Marco Van Basten ICON items that were offered as packs in SBC's, or FUT Draft until further notice". Although many players have concerns with FIFA however, they have responded promptly to the controversial incident.
